1942 - 1954
In 1942, the German trust company Vereinigte Aluminium Werke started to build an alumina factory in Strnišče. By the year 1945 about 70% of the construction work was completed. In February 1954, the first alumina production plant was introduced, and the first aluminium was produced in November of the same year.

1955 - 1963
The factory's management made a contract with the French company Pechiney in 1957 and increased the alumina production output to 80,000 tones per year.

1964 - 1984
The purchase of the first IBM 1130 computer. 12 test pots on pre-baked anodes were introduced. Merger with Impol. In 1981 a new foundry was built. After a one year "temporary measure of social protection" in the year 1984, management was again taken over by the factory's experts under the direction of Danilo Toplek, M. Sc.

1985 - 1991
Large reconstruction of the production processes. With the new pre-baked anode technology, the company joined the world's most up-to-date aluminium producers. The Basic Organisations of Associated Labor were abolished among the first in Slovenia. Closure of Potline A - important turnover considering the environmental protection.

1992 - 2000
Red mud landfills becoming green again. On 27 May 1992 the factory was registered under the name of Talum and the motto "Lightness of the Future" presented the new philosophy of the company. Acquired the quality certificates. In 1998 Talum became a joint-stock company.

2001 - 2005
Construction of Potline C2. A modern foundry of cast alloys was erected. Into the production more and more scrap was included. Reconstruction of the administration building.

Board President Danilo Toplek, M. Sc., received the Award of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce for exceptional business achievements. In accordance with the strategic development and vision, the company decides on a new Web appearance.
