Primary aluminium production
What is electrolytic
(primary) aluminium
We produce primary aluminium in two "potlines".

1. Potline B

We produce aluminium in small electrolytic cells with pre-bake anodes. The technological process control is manual, but we also produce aluminium with a good production norm according to the use of material and energy.

2. Potline C

We use point feeder pre-baked anode cells with high amperage. Electrolytic cells are kept with using modern equipment and process control. Cells are computer managed, covered and connected to the gas treatment station.

Electrolytic process

The electrolytic process in potline C is almost fully automatic. The process control system regulates the electrolytic cells. The system is organised in two layers. The first layer operates each electrolytic cell, the second layer operates potline C completely. For this purpose, each cell has its own microprocessor, which regulates the process. All microprocessors are connected to the main computer, which takes measurements and controls the process. Tending cranes are in the potline to operate electrolytic cells.

All electrolytic cells are covered and connected to the gas treatment station. We use a dry cleaning system of gases. Fresh alumina absorbs fluoride and is collected through the bag filters and transported in the process. The gas treatment station is very efficient, gas collection efficiency is 97% and gas-cleaning efficiency is 99%.

Electrolytic, or primary aluminium is aluminium produced with the electrolytic process in electrolytic cells - pots. Electricity dissolves alumina in a molten bath of aluminium and oxygen. Fluid (liquid) aluminium is taped and transported to the cast house.
