Up-to date vehicles

Transport and communal infrastructure maintenance services are meant only for internal purposes in our company's area.

Only a smaller extent of such services is done for the external customer.

Transport services include:

transport of aluminium and aluminium products;
transport of raw materials, spare parts for different devices and equipment;
carting away of all kinds of waste;
supervision, service and replacement of working vehicles;
maintaining technical perfection and registration and lending of;
performing services with heavy machinery.

Communal infrastructure maintenance includes:

care, maintenance and permanent usage of railway tracks (we still have approximately 12 km of railway track on the company site);
marking and maintaining all roads, refuse dumps, and parking places during the whole year;
supervision of all kinds of sinks;
ecological islands, sorting of waste and collecting of inert waste;
sewage, which is a special sphere due to its functionality;
alumina transport with rail tankers. Movements on our railway network are carried out with locomotive and tractor.

Production of primary aluminium needs large quantities of alumina as the main raw material. For 1 kg of primary aluminium, 2 kg of alumina are needed. We had our own production of alumina until 1991, now we buy it on the market.

Transport of alumina goes through the port of Koper, where the silo, with a capacity of 20,000 tones is situated. From Koper to Kidričevo alumina is transported in rail tankers. In Talum alumina is stored in two silos with capacities of 4,500 and 10,000 tones. With modern road tankers it is transported to two smaller (we name them "daily silos") storage facilities in Potline C. From there it is loaded by two furnace cranes into each cell.
