Art collection
Aluminium dialogue
with other materials
Talum is known for being an important patron of contemporary fine art production in Slovenia and also the owner of a valuable fine art collection having over 200 pieces. In 1991 for the first time painters gathered under the patronage of the factory's management at Štatenberg Castle, where they painted for a week in the romantic surrounding of the baroque castle and its park.

They persevered in the decaying building until 1999, when they arranged improvised studios in Ptuj castle. In 2002 the painters were replaced by photographers who gathered in Ptuj and among the factory objects in Kidričevo. In 2003 the organisers gave up the customary gathering at art colonies and passed over to a repurchase system, where the works are presented at an exhibition similar to the previously used colony.

If trying to define the character of this collection, holding works of over 50 artists, it would be easiest to describe it as post-modernistic. The organisers invited the most important contemporary artists from Slovenia to participate, sometimes joined by artists from neighbouring Croatia and Austrian Carinthia. The most recent purchases even went as far as Norway.
